Joshua David Erick Reed - The Second Year

Our first two years of having Josh have been quite the adventure! Looking back at his baby pictures, I realize there are some things that haven't changed much. He is still a very light sleeper but not as bad as in the beginning! After we figured out that he liked to sleep on his tummy - life got easier.
He has always been a bit more to the serious side (he gets that from his dad) but he sure does know how to ham it up and make us all laugh! Jessa adores him and is always looking out for her little bro. I love to see my kids enjoying each other! That is the greatest gift a mom could hope for. And in turn, Joshy loves his big sister. And he loves getting into her room (because that is where all the cool toys are kept) and doing things to get a reaction from her. Typical boy, huh? Recently, he has taken to calling her "Sau..." I guess this is a shortened version of Jessa, which he can say just fine.
These days Joshy spends his time playing with his trucks (he calls them "Gucks") and desperately trying to get outside no matter what the weather is like. Just the other day he escaped out the front door when Jessa and her friend were coming into the house. I (mom) had to run him down and he caught a whopper of a spanking in the neighbors driveway. And yes, he keeps getting Fire Ant bites because he likes to play in the dirt or sand or just wander through the the landscaping and stir up their nests. He cries for a moment and then he's back to business as usual.
This past week or two he has become very interested in puzzles and books. He can put all his puzzle pieces back in where they belong........but he'd rather take them out and watch mom do the clean up! And when it's nap time, he keeps the story books coming......guess he's already learned how to stall and delay in that department!
Josh also has his own little language going on that the rest of us have to figure out. He can say many words very clearly (mom, dada, Jessa, doggie, bye-bye, up, down, out, cookie, Elmo, book)
but some take some severe interpretation! For instance: Nung-na means candy. Where this came from is anyone's guess. And we have now figured out that "Mite" means button or snap.
At least Joshy knows what he is saying.....it's the rest of us that are slow!
We sure have enjoyed these past two years with him and are looking forward to seeing what fun and adventure Joshy will bring us in his next year!! God has blessed us with a wonderful son and we couldn't be happier!!
